Redding Seasonal Cleaning Calendar
Redding has four cleaning seasons: pollen in spring, heat and dust in summer, smoke and ash in late summer and fall, and mud and rain in winter. Deep clean in late spring after pollen peaks, and again in fall once smoke season ends.
When is the best time to deep clean in Redding?
Late spring, around May, after oak and grass pollen peaks, and again in October or November after fire season. Cleaning before those seasons end just means doing it twice.
| Season | What gets dirty | What to clean |
|---|---|---|
| Spring (Feb to May) | Oak, walnut and grass pollen on sills, screens, fans and cars | Windows and screens, ceiling fans, AC vents, HVAC filter, then a deep clean in May |
| Summer (June to Aug) | Fine dust with AC running and doors opening; lake grit | Vents and fans monthly, entries and laundry rooms, early-morning cleans in the heat |
| Smoke season (July to Oct) | Ash on sills, patios and screens; smoky fabrics | Damp-wipe and HEPA-vacuum, replace filters, wash curtains and bedding |
| Fall and winter (Nov to Jan) | Rain, mud and red dirt at doors; holiday guests | Post-smoke deep clean, entry mats, grout, pre-holiday clean |
Pollen timing from Redding pollen calendars; smoke season varies year to year.
